Continuing its commitment to supporting local and emerging artists, this year’s lineup features performances from local legends and jazz funk alchemists, the Shuffle Demons – celebrating 40 years of electrifying audiences the world over and a new album; Moneka Arabic Jazz – reflecting the life and artistic journey of its founder, Ahmed Moneka from Baghdad to Toronto, showcasing melodies from his homeland interwoven with African groove and rhythms; 16-piece percussion posse Samba Squad – celebrating 25 years of getting Toronto on its feet with special guest performers; queer up-and-comer Jennarie – known for her dynamic vocals, extensive range, and impassioned performances; and Youth Music Day (June 22) sponsored by Long & McQuade featuring the Fest’s Big Band Slam and sets from Community Music Schools of Toronto DJs.

“Supporting local and Canadian artists has always been a priority for us,” shares Josh Grossman, Artistic Director for Toronto Downtown Jazz, producers of TD Toronto Jazz Fest. “It’s especially vital to provide a platform for artists – younger and emerging artists in particular – to showcase their talents today given the challenges facing arts communities here in Toronto and across the country. We take pride in celebrating outstanding musicians from at home and around the world.”

Complementing this year’s lineup of free performances showcasing emerging and local artists are a number of ticketed performances from renowned, award-winning artists including keyboard master, Cory Henry, 7x Grammy-winning artist André 3000, Canadian-Mexican singer-songwriter, Amanda Martinez and Toronto-based Kuruza, the DJ collective uniting the African diaspora through music and the official late-night DJ following Andre 3000’s New Blue Sun LIVE.
