New Canadian Global Music Orchestra at Koerner Hall

New Canadian Global Music Orchestra - Toronto 2017

The New Canadian Global Music Orchestra is a creation of The Royal Conservatory, which has brought together professional musicians from all over the world, all of whom now live in Canada.

What is Canadian music in 2017? How will we define it? Who are the musicians who will create and perform it? Where else but in Canada today, at this moment, can artists from different traditions come together to create a new body of work or, even, a new tradition?

The orchestra will perform live on the Koerner Hall stage on their instruments from every corner of the globe. We celebrate the cultural diversity of our country and of the music that exists in so many of our neighborhoods by bringing together musicians to create new musical collaborations.

The New Canadian Global Music Orchestra is sharing each other’s culture and music traditions as they rehearse, compose, and give workshops and community concerts throughout spring 2017. The extended residency will allow the ensemble to form a cohesive unit and to create music that is, arguably, only possible in Toronto. All of this culminates with a celebratory concert at Koerner Hall on June 2, 2017
