Stefano Bollani “relishes the challenge of making a box of hammers and strings into something that breathes and sings” (The Telegraph). Calling Stefano Bollani the most prodigiously gifted pianist on Italy’s talent-laden jazz scene does not begin to capture the esteem he inspires in his colleagues. An audaciously inventive improviser who draws inspiration from many musical and literary sources, the pianist possesses an exquisite touch, a rambunctious sense of humour, and a knack for elegant concision. Roberto Occhipinti is widely regarded as one of Canada’s premier bassists. A five-time Juno award musician, he is equally at home playing classical music as well as jazz and world music. In addition to leading his own groups with four with discs under his name, he has performed, toured, and recorded with Jane Bunnett, Hilario Durán, Jamey Haddad, Jovino Santos Neto, Don Byron, and more. He is joined by pianist Manuel Valera and percussionist Dafnis Prieto.
Presented in association with the Istituto Italiano di Cultura. Stefano Bollani also appears with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra on November 17 and 19 as part of a joint Royal Conservatory of Music/Toronto Symphony Orchestra residency.
Postlude performance with ATP Trio in the Leslie & Anna Dan Galleria.
