Latin America Secures 3 Out of 11 Prestigious Music Cities Awards, presented by “Saxony, State of the Arts” at the Huntsville Music Cities Convention

The heartbeat of Latin America resounded louder than ever at the recent Music Cities Awards,
held in conjunction with the Huntsville Music Cities Convention on October 18, 2023. This year’s awards ceremony was nothing short of extraordinary, with Latin America emerging as a
dominant force, clinching three out of eleven prestigious Music Cities Awards.

The Music Cities Awards, organized by Music Cities Events (part of Momentual), serves as a
global showcase for initiatives that leverage music for economic, social, environmental, and
cultural development in cities worldwide.

This year’s competition received an unprecedented 200+ applications from over 25 countries
across five continents, reaffirming music’s pivotal role in transforming urban
landscapes.

The winning projects from Latin America not only demonstrated exceptional creativity and
innovation but also exemplified how the region is leading the forefront of the global music
cities movement.

From driving tourism to fostering youth development and repurposing old buildings into vibrant cultural hubs, these projects serve as inspirations for cities around the world.

  • Best Initiative to Support Diversity & Inclusion in Music: GSBTB
  • Best Initiative to Support Music Education & Career Development: Diversify the Stage
  • Best Music Tourism Initiative: Cidade Da Música Salvador
  • Best Initiative Using Music to Improve Health & Wellbeing: Music Health
  • Best Initiative Using Music to Support Environmental Sustainability: Kisiki Hai
  • Best Initiative Using Music for Economic, Social or Community Development: SIM Sao Paulo

The winners were announced at the Awards Ceremony held in the Mars Music Hall, Huntsville,
marking the commencement of the Huntsville Music Cities Convention, a global gathering of
visionaries dedicated to shaping dynamic and thriving music cities.
